About Us / Nosotros

Professional Students / Estudiantes Profesionales de VV

Going to college is a dream for many of our students and families. On the 2012 VV survey, 97% of parents said they hope their child will go to college. District-wide there is a renewed emphasis on helping students “reach for the North Star” – gaining the skills they need to be ready for college, career, and community. By setting high expectations and creating a professional learning environment, we can help all students be college-bound.

Families can reinforce the idea of being a professional student at home too. Asking students to be professional means getting to school on time, wearing their uniform, and arriving ready to learn. As professional students, we expect them to be respectful, make good decisions, and problem solve. We want to foster the concepts and culture of an “I CAN” attitude. Please talk with your children about how they can be professional students and the long-term goal of attending a university. You can plan a visit to nearby colleges (Dominican University, Marin Community College, UC Berkeley), or talk about any universities that you attended or dreamed of attending, and/or post a sticker, banner or diploma up as a reminder of this shared goal.
