Restorative Justice teacher Mrs. Harland reviews the RJ Mock Trial procedures while YMCA Youth Court advisor Ally Fabian confers with the bailiff.
There are sixteen 7th and 8th graders in the Restorative Justice elective this semester. The Peer Court offers students who otherwise might receive a detention or suspension an opportunity to sit with a group of peers on the Peer Court (and a teacher), and they decide on what solutions to offer. The process teaches students to understand the impact of their behavior and take responsibility for their actions.
